I deplore Iran's odious practice of executing people for crimes 
committed when they were children. I am also concerned about the excessive use of force against demonstrators in December and January for economic and social rights, as well as the subsequent deaths of a number of protestors held in custody. Widespread resentment at high levels of youth unemployment, inequality, lack of accountability of State institutions and the greater demand for rights should be addressed through dialogue and reforms. Repressive measures – such as arrests and prosecutions of human rights defenders, journalists, international environmental activists and women protesting against the compulsory hijab – can only deepen the people's resentment. The Secretary General's report on Iran will be presented to the Council on 21 March.

من از اعمال خشونت آمیز ایران در مورد اعمال مجازات برای جنایاتی که در زمان کودکی مرتکب شده اند اعتراض می کنم. من همچنین نگران استفاده بیش از حد از زور علیه تظاهرکنندگان در ماه دسامبر و ژانویه برای حقوق اقتصادی و اجتماعی و همچنین مرگ و میرهای بعدی تعدادی از معترضین که در زندان نگهداری می شوند، نگران هستند. نارضایتی گسترده در سطوح بالای بیکاری جوانان، نابرابری، عدم پاسخگویی نهادهای دولتی و تقاضای بیشتر برای حقوق باید از طریق گفتگوی و اصلاحات مورد توجه قرار گیرد. اقدامات سرکوبگر مانند دستگیری و پیگرد مدافعان حقوق بشر، روزنامه نگاران، فعالان بین المللی محیط زیست و زنان اعتراض آمیز علیه حجاب اجباری، تنها می تواند باعث خشم مردم شود. گزارش دبیرکل در مورد ایران در روز 21 مارس به شورا ارائه خواهد شد
